“When God wants a great work done in the world or a great wrong righted, he goes about it in a very unusual way. He doesn’t stir up his earthquakes or send forth his thunderbolts. Instead, he has a helpless baby born, perhaps in a simple home and of some obscure mother. And then God puts the idea into the mother’s heart, and she puts it into the baby’s mind. And then God waits. The greatest forces in the world are not the earthquakes and the thunderbolts. The greatest forces in the world are babies.” ~ET Sullivan

Learning Parts

While she's in the bathtub, I quiz Leah on the parts of the body. So far she knows two: her nose and her belly button. She can identify each accurately 50% of the time. (Then, she always looks for the belly button outside of the bath and is so frustrated that she can't find it anymore.)

This week we'll focus on learning toes and ears. Although she doesn't yet identify her eyes, she does try to mimic us when we wink at her. Her attemps always result in very deliberate blinking, but always symmetrical. It's really cute, becuase she really is trying!

Goodnight Sleepyhead

It seems like she is growing so fast! Leah is determined not to have table manners, to drink from a sippy cup (or even hold her own bottle, for that matter!), or to come down stairs on her own. She is a very determined little girl!

One of the cutest, sweetest things Leah does is twirl her hair with her fingers while she's having a bottle or laying in bed. Her hair is so long and curly--it makes her look more like a little girl than a baby. When we put her to bed, after a bottle, a song, a story or two, and a prayer, we lay her down with her binky (which she only gets in her crib), cover her with a blanket, and tuck Ophie under her arm. I kiss her forehead and say "Goodnight Sweetheart" and she waves at me-she knows she'll see me tomorrow. Then she lies there and twirls her hair while she drifts peacefully into tomorrow.

This week in pictures

She reminds me of a porcelain doll.

Story time with Daddy!

She whispers gibberish as she "reads" to herself.

Ooh, Baby I love your way

I decided there was no use trying to find the lost cable and just had to buy a new one. Finally! New pictures!
