“When God wants a great work done in the world or a great wrong righted, he goes about it in a very unusual way. He doesn’t stir up his earthquakes or send forth his thunderbolts. Instead, he has a helpless baby born, perhaps in a simple home and of some obscure mother. And then God puts the idea into the mother’s heart, and she puts it into the baby’s mind. And then God waits. The greatest forces in the world are not the earthquakes and the thunderbolts. The greatest forces in the world are babies.” ~ET Sullivan

Top 7 in 2007

  1. Leah is starting to learn sign language! She can sign potty, more, shoes, and food among others. We tried teaching her signs when she was 8 or 9 months old, but she wasn’t interested. Now she is!
  2. Leah has four new molars! They came in all at once (a source of lots of tears). She now has 12 teeth, including four incisors (middle teeth) on the top and bottom. Her cuspids have not come in yet, which looks kind of funny to me. (Learn all about teeth here)
  3. Leah can give “fives” on command and recently learned how to give hugs!
  4. Leah noticed when we put up decorations in our new home after having bare walls for the first few weeks, and pointed at them as if to say “Look Mom, stuff on the walls that didn’t used to be there”
  5. We think Leah will be talking soon. She jabbers all the time and Chris got her to say “lights” while pointing at the fixtures overhead. Several months ago, she surprised me by saying her very first word, "Baby," while looking at her reflection in the mirror (how vain!) but Chris wasn't around when she did it so he doesn't believe me.
  6. Leah loves to tote around a stuffed animal. Her favorite is a kangaroo called "Ophie" from Grandma Helen. When we gave Leah the middle name Helen, Grandma asked why none of her grandchildren were using her grandmother's name, which was Theophila--Ophie for short. So we gave the kangaroo the honorary name of Ophie.
  7. Leah still takes two naps a day and sometimes sleeps until 9am! What a mircale child!

Sorry I haven't put up any new pictures in a while, I just can't find the cord that connects my camera to my computer!

Hi Jenny,

I enjoy reading your blog & appreciate keeping us posted & up to date on things with Leah & you all. Sorry I don't post a comment much. The more I read your blog, I'm realizing what a good writer & creative person you are. I just had a thought that you should be writing a poem, book, or something. You have such a good vocabulary. I'm sure that Leah is going to pick up on your talents cause you're spending lots of quality time with her. Keep it up & although I don't post a comment, I do enjoy reading & I find myself smililng. One more thing - plz find your cord soon, lola want more pictures. Love - Mom

Hi Jenny. Thank you for sharing about Leah, you and Chris. It's so nice being able to keep up on what your all doing since you live so far away. I don't feel like I'm missing out on everything that way. You and Chris do a wonderful job with Leah and you should be proud of yourselves. Love Aunt Joy
