“When God wants a great work done in the world or a great wrong righted, he goes about it in a very unusual way. He doesn’t stir up his earthquakes or send forth his thunderbolts. Instead, he has a helpless baby born, perhaps in a simple home and of some obscure mother. And then God puts the idea into the mother’s heart, and she puts it into the baby’s mind. And then God waits. The greatest forces in the world are not the earthquakes and the thunderbolts. The greatest forces in the world are babies.” ~ET Sullivan

The braid

Okay, so I am officially the wrong mom to have a daughter with mounds of beautiful long curly hair because I have absolutely no idea how to do anything with it. She hardly even lets me brush it unless its super silky after her bath and she is transfixed by her favorite movie. I took advantage of her willing lap-time this morning to attempt a french braid. I understand the concept, but have never actually been able to execute one successfully. So instead, I decided to start with a simple braid on each side. Here's how it turned out, and I think it's pretty cute even though its not very good. I need the practice and Leah needs to get used to having me play with her hair. By picture day in kindergarten I should have it figured out!

Dear Jenny,

I think Leah's hair looks just great for you never doing a braid before. When Jessica was little she had hair down below her butt and I thought I'd never learn how to french braid her long hair but in time I did. I know in time you will too. Leah sweetie, you look just adorable and so grown up.

Love ya both a bunch,
Aunt Joy

She's so cute!

I can't do hair, either. Glenn braids my hair for me. He's going to be doing Lizzie's hair, too!
